About orisige

We are orisige, a maker of wooden boxes founded in Ibaraki, Japan, in 1966.

We craft everything from sugi — Japanese cedar, a wood long woven into daily life in Japan.

Left untreated, cedar makes time visible: it deepens in color and gains a quiet sheen as it is used. Every mark and patina becomes a record of the time spent with its owner. This is what we make — boxes that grow together with you.

What we make

Wooden boxes & packaging

Folding boxes (oribako) for food and confectionery — our craft since 1966. We also work in paper and kyogi (thin sliced wood), and make gift boxes and display fixtures.

Custom & OEM

We design and manufacture to order: shapes, sizes, and laser engraving for logos and names. Small lots are welcome.

Material

Untreated, 100% domestic Japanese cedar. Its natural scent and texture, with no coating.
